NEYMAR MIGHT BE CLOSE TO JOINING PSG

This past couple of days, the media from the football world has been flooded with rumors of Neymar leaving Barcelona for French side Paris Saint Germain.  Although Barcelona’s President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has stated that “It is unlikely that Neymar will leave, because he is very happy in Catalunya”, reports from Brazilian sources state otherwise. According to Brazilian outlet, Esporte Interativo, Neymar would have already decided to move to France. The arguments that would have led the Brazilian to leave would be that he would become the best paid footballer in the world with an offered salary of 15 million Euros, that he wouldn’t be in Messi’s shadow anymore and would get to be the key player of the team, as well as the fact that many Brazilian friends of the former Santos player are already on the squad, including David Luiz, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Lucas Moura, and the recently signed Dani Alves. Brazilian TV station, Globo, has also stated that Neymar has already accepted the deal, going on to say that several Brazilian players from PSG have already been told by Neymar that he will, in fact, join them in Paris for the next season.  Although nothing is confirmed yet, it sure seems like Neymar might become this summer’s biggest, surprise, transfer. Hmmm

MANCHESTER UNITED EXPECTED TO OFFER ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC A NEW CONTRACT

It seems like Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s spell with Manchester United is far from over. The 35-year-old Swedish star might be offered a one-year deal once fully fit, to return for another season with the Red Devils. After suffering a severe injury, a couple of months ago that prevented him from finishing the season with the team; Zlatan was let go by Manchester United. It seemed like Zlatan was heading to the MLS or even towards retirement due to his age and injury, but apparently a series of circumstances have made Manchester United rethink their decision to let their veteran striker go. Reports from the English Media state that United’s medical staff are very surprised with the speedy recovery Zlatan has been making. This unusual recovery added to the fact that Manchester United was unable to sign another heavyweight striker to substitute Zlatan, has made them consider offering Ibrahimovic another short-term deal to play once again for Jose Mourinho. Reports state that it would be the Portuguese manager himself, who would have requested to the Manchester board of directors, to offer former Barcelona and PSG striker a new short-term contract that would only begin once he makes a full recovery, and would only last until the end of the next season. It is expected for the Red Devils to make a statement soon. The Swedish striker has told the British media in the last couple of days that “big news is coming soon” regarding his future.

MANCHESTER UNITED AND BARCELONA FIGHT FOR MARCO VERRATTI

Marco Verratti is having a great summer. He is currently one of the most sought-after players in the transfer Window, with two of the biggest clubs in the planet heading the race, Manchester United and Barcelona. Barcelona has been interested in Verratti for a while now. The Italian who has been a key player for PSG and the Italian national team has been sought after the Spanish club even before the beginning of the current transfer window, and with good reasons to do so. Barcelona desperately needs a new playmaker in their squad after Xavi left for Qatar and Iniesta being on the verge of retiring or also leaving, to a less competitive league, due to his age, like the MLS or Chinese Superleague. Verratti has proven to be one of the best midfielders in the world with a nice balance of technique, precision passing, and also defensive skills that allow him to recover many balls in the middle of the field. But another big club is now also in the race for the talented PSG playmaker. Manchester United has confirmed interest in Marco, and he has become a must-have signing for the red devils after Jose Mourinho has stated that he is looking desperately to a have a new heavyweight midfielder to add to his squad. Barcelona appeared to have the upper hand in the race after sources close to the player stated that the Italian was more than willing to play alongside Messi and company, but now the tables appear to have turned in favor of Manchester United. Recently Marco Verratti has signed on with a new agent, Mino Raiola, who is famous for having ties with Manchester United and for being behind the transfers of Paul Pogba and Ibrahimovic to the Red Devils. Because, Raiola will be representing Verratti, makes a strong argument for a very possible move to Old Trafford in the next days, but with Marco seemingly interested in joining Barcelona, anything is possible. One thing is certain, it seems very hard for Verratti to stay another season in Paris.

VENUE OF THE WEEK: Paris

Paris Best Destinations in Europe

The capital of France and one of the most iconic cities in the world, the city of Paris, with a population of over 2 million people, is a global center for fashion, arts, commerce, and science that attracts tourists from all over the world. Paris is best known for its Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre Arts Museum, and of course “Arc de Triomphe”. However lately it has also gained attention due to its soccer team: Paris Saint Germain, or PSG as it is known in the footballing world. Founded in 1970, PSG is the most successful club in French football history having won 6 league titles, 11 French Cups, a UEFA Cup and a UEFA Intertoto Cup. They are also the only club to have never been relegated from the French first division. The club plays in the legendary Parc des Princes with a capacity of 47,000 spectators, and has hosted 2 World Cups, 1 UEFA Cup final, and 1 UEFA EURO Cup as well. PSG has been a host of several top players for years, like Ronaldinho, Youri Djorkaeff, and George Weah, but since 2011 it has now become a team that is always looking to buy World class players to fill each one of their positions, making it one of the so-called “super squads” appearing recently in European football. The reason was the buying of the club by Oryx Qatar Sports Investments, a powerful company with high funding that has been looking to transfer the biggest players of the moment to its ranks. Some examples are Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Luiz, Edison Cavani, Marco Verratti, David Beckham, Angel DiMaria, Thiago Silva, and recently Dani Alves.
