Real Madrid is once again the UEFA Super Cup Winner after defeating Manchester United by 2 goals to 1.  The game that took place in Macedonia started as a close contest between the two sides during the first minutes of the match, but it slowly started to become one sided as Madrid began creating more chances than the Red Devils and started taking control of possession of the ball. Eventually the dominance from Real Madrid showed up on the scoreboard, and at minute 23 a perfect through pass from Carvajal to Casemiro (who was arguably offside) ended up in the first goal to give the Galacticos the lead. Despite the goal, Manchester United failed to react and create any sort of comeback for the rest of the half, as Real Madrid’s dominance only became more evident as the minutes progressed.  The Blancos created several more chances on the net and could have easily gone to the halftime break leading by more goals than one, if it wasn’t for some missed opportunities and some great saves by DeGea. Back from the locker room, Manchester United still failed to provide any sort of real threat for Real Madrid in the beginning of the second half, and the Spanish team once again dominated the game. At minute 51 a rapid exchange of passes between Gareth Bale and Isco inside the box proved to be too much for the Manchester defense, and saw Isco finish the play with a second Real Madrid goal. Mourinho made some substitutions and changed his formation to try to make his team behave better inside the pitch and it proved to work for some short spells in the remainder of the game. At minute 61 the tactical change payed off and saw Romelu Lukaku score the first Manchester goal of the game after Keylor Navas gave away a rebound inside the box for him to simply push into the net. Manchester United managed to keep up the pressure and create a couple of chances, and at the 80th minute they were close to tying the game after Rashford went on a breakaway towards the goal only to be stopped by Keylor Navas. It was too late for the Red Devils as they would not be able to create any more real danger on the opposing net after that, and with the final whistle and a score of 2-1, Real Madrid had one back to back UEFA Super Cups. Now Real Madrid will face Barcelona for the Spanish Super Cup this weekend and a chance to keep the trophies coming and Zinedine Zidane’s current winning record going.

Barcelona is looking to replace Neymar fast and is now aggressively looking to transfer Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho to its ranks. Reports from the English media state that Barcelona has already made a bid twice in the past few days for the Brazilian, but that both moves were rejected immediately by the Anfield Club, who are keen on not selling their top player this summer. Jurgen Klopp has also said to the press that his striker is not for sale, and that under no conditions will he be transferred this summer as he is a key member of his squad, and very important for Liverpool to be able to reach champions league spot on the Premier League table next season. But although Liverpool appear to be highly motivated to not let the player go, they might be eventually pressured by the player to make the move. A recent report from English newspaper The Guardian has stated that Coutinho has already requested his club to let him transfer to Barcelona, and that although determined to resist the transfer, they might accept to sell him, after not wanting to make a move against the players wishes. The latest bid for Coutinho Barcelona made that was rejected,  was reportedly of 100 million Euros,  which after the recent Neymar transfer is being considered as to low for a player like Coutinho. So perhaps there is room for the Catalan club to make a better bid, one that Liverpool won’t be able to refuse, cause if not, the transfer window will only last for another three weeks, and Barcelona might be better off looking elsewhere for Neymar’s replacement, as the clock is now ticking.
